Who says miners living alone in the hills are crazy? A miner named William “Burro” Schmidt spent 32 years digging a tunnel by hand so that he could have a better transportation route for the ore he would find. As work on the tunnel progressed, the hermit became more concerned with the tunnel than with mining. He never did have any ore to send down his new transportation route.
