The people of Ludlow, a small town on I-40 about 50 miles east of Barstow, once took a strange liking to frogs’ legs. A shipment of the delicacy was on its way to Goldfield, Nevada, when it missed a connection in Ludlow. The frogs’ legs were sold cheaply in town and future shipments began to mysteriously disappear. A railroad investigator finally caught up with the scam and put an end to discount frogs’ legs in Ludlow.
